Ok, let's look at option A.
Would both scientists agree that mechanical stress is important for patterning?
Well, Scientist 2 would certainly think so: he flat out says "we believe that mechanical
stress causes the patterned growth".
But...Scientist 1 doesn't mention anything about mechanical stress, so A is not our answer.
And we can also cross C off our list while we're at it.
Our friend Sam is certainly a stressed individual.
He's a little worried about how well his new hat goes with his neon pink jeans, and if
his purple sunglasses match his green bowtie.
Yet Scientist 1 is completely unsympathetic to Sam's predicament, and doesn't mention
anything about a stressed Sam. And as for option D...
