Thank you Wait Achievement and excellence Extracurriculars Allah shmoop i

00:08

will Jeremiah is a well rounded kid Eats sleeps breathes

00:13

You know all that good stuff However when it comes

00:15

to challenging himself and becoming exposed to activities and environments

00:19

outside of his comfort zone needs poorly rounded he's a

00:22

rectangle really but that's where mom and dad step in

00:25

they realized the importance of extracurriculars for a high school

00:28

student not just because it makes college admissions officers like

00:33

you better but because by broadening a young person's horizons

00:36

it potentially introduces them to something they may decide to

00:40

make part of their life's work and otherwise fills them

00:42

out as a human being After all who sounds like

00:45

a more interesting person toe spend time with someone who

00:48

speaks french can build a birdhouse plays fierce game of

00:50

chess and can hit a baseball a mile or someone

00:54

who knows how to make themselves a grilled cheese sandwich

00:56

Yeah that's what we thought so urged on by his

00:58

parents jeremiah signs up for a few extra curricular activities

01:02

but he makes it clear that he's doing so under

01:04

protest He joins the debate team but spends the bulk

01:07

Of his time debating what the point is of having

01:09

a debate team which doesn't really cause him to get

01:11

on the debate team coach is a good side there

01:14

he joins the choir and becomes really good at mouthing

01:16

the words to songs and finally he signs up for

01:19

track because well he's always been exceptionally talented running away

01:23

from things rabid dogs responsibility you name it well the

01:27

debate team doesn't take but at least jeremiah does improve

01:30

his debating skills a bit naturally something that'll benefit him

01:33

later in life when he successfully talk someone into giving

01:36

him a grant related things Mr hendricks choir was never

01:40

going to be his thing but it helped expose him

01:42

to a variety of music that will one day service

01:45

an important connection between himself and his future wife If

01:48

he hadn't known the song ain't misbehavin well they might

01:51

never have gotten married and track well It turns out

01:54

that jeremiah had to hit and talent all along given

01:56

the proper motivation and boy were these trophies whatever shiny

02:00

well jeremiah could run circles around well around the football

02:04

field and he could run them very very quickly in

02:06

fact It'll earn him a scholarship to his dream school

02:09

where he'll go on to earn a degree in biomedical

02:11

engineering and ultimately make a boatload of money curing cancer

02:15

All that stuff never would have happened if he just

02:18

stuck to reading writing and arithmetic So run jeremiah run 00:02:22.165 --> [endTime] run like the wind
