(A) is easy to cross off our list, because the passage doesn't comment on the quality
of Nirvana's music at all.
Early on, the passage does mention some of the other bands from the Seattle scene...
However, the bulk of the article focuses on Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, so (B) doesn't
make the cut.
(E) claims that the passage is all about statistics.
It does give us some numbers, but there's a lot more to this passage than a bunch of numbers.
Each remaining choice is attractive in its own special way.
Since the passage focuses more on how success—not music—played a role in Cobain's eventual
deterioration, (D) misses the ball, leaving us with (C).
