So this is a vocabulary question really.
We can lose (B) pretty easily. "Adulterated" describes something that's been made poorer
in quality. So it's not the opposite of realistic.
"Inadequate" means "not enough" and
"rank" can mean gross or shockingly conspicuous.
Neither of these are the opposite of "realistic" either, so we can break-up with them without
any guilt. You know...inadequate..not enough. Like the gals who wear ton of makeup at recess.
"Extreme" might look tempting...
But someone who is "idealized" is perceived as an ideal... a perfect person who probably
couldn't exist in real life.
So the answer is D.
