been writing Most of us have heard the imperative to
write what you know And so ponyboy has decided
to write what he knows The stories of people like
johnny who can he He can imagine dying in the [Johnny laid in the streets]
streets on dh the stories of two bit and soda
pop and all of his other friends and their lives
What effect is the narrative twist have on the story?
Yeah for for me I mean it reinforces that ponyboy
is incredibly smart It does make me wonder how seriously [Ponyboy wearing graduation cap]
to take him Is he exaggerating Something's Is he a
completely reliable narrator Is he leaving some things out Because [Ponyboy flexing muscles]
this is for an english class and no one tells
their english teacher everything So i think it makes you

step back and understand it As you know um or [Woman looking at portrait of book]
impressionistic portrait of some things that happened What happens if
we go back and re read the book with the
twisted mind? I love that on dh You get so
much out of re reading like you can suddenly say
like when ponyboy criticizes the other gang members is not
seeming very smart Is it because he really felt that [Gang members appear]
way Or is he trying to impress another reader Who
would want him to be smart Does he seem to
you care so much about school Because he's genuinely like
that or because that's the image he wants to present
It becomes a totally different book in that light and
that's Pretty cool It's like two two stories in one [Ponyboy holding two books]
Why is ponyboy telling this story What effect is the
narrative twist have on the story What happens if we
go back and re read the book with the twisted
