About Me

Intro

Remember that time a knight in full armor rode a majestically ferocious bear up to you, pulled off their helmet (revealing perfectly conditioned hair), and sang a song so beautiful that, not only did you find yourself weeping uncontrollably, but through your tears, you managed to glimpse the bear sobbing along with you?

I suppose you don't. It's a little too much for most people to comprehend, but that's me in a nutshell. I impress.

You must have heard of my medical school. It's one of my finest features, but it's far from all I've got to offer. From engineering to humanities to architecture to business, I've got it all. I'm a hot shot across the board with a world-class engineering program, a cutting-edge art and architecture school, and a poli sci department that's off the charts. Still, you've probably heard about the popularity of my premed program. Do you hear that? It's the sound of premeds muttering about stoichiometry.

On top of my sweet academics, I've got a great personality, too. Couldn't you tell? Okay, maybe I come off as just a little selective and full of myself…but my students are the friendliest around. There are always parties to go to, and they're fiercely loyal to my sports teams... even if I don't have that whole "Saturday morning tailgate" lifestyle.

Not to mention I organize all kinds of community service events to make sure none of them run low on warm fuzzies. (Which are almost as important as caffeine in college.)

Also, in case you were wondering, I am a bombshell. You may not have known you wanted to go to a school with pink sandstone gargoyles scattered about campus, but trust me, you do.

P.S. Did I mention I can cook?

Body Type

I'm a medium-sized campus with a big-city feel. My 11,967 (exactly…I checked) students might not all know each other personally, but you'll see a familiar bear pretty much everywhere you go. As a freshman, it's very rare to go to Bear's Den without bumping into a friend or two (or ten).

I'm small enough so you can walk everywhere, but there are shuttles (called "the Circ" for short) for when it's cold, for when you're tired, or injured, or…okay, let's be real, they're usually for when you're feeling lazy. Who needs to walk those 10 minutes anyways?

Current Living Situation

My spacious suites, multitudinous singles, and well-equipped apartments are enough to keep most students on campus, but there's also plenty of off-campus housing. I guarantee all the students 4 years of housing, but the underclassmen tend to stick around longer. I like keeping an eye on them anyway.

I am a mama bear with over 10,000 cubs, after all.

Upperclassmen sometimes desire a little more independence and live in the surrounding area, which I…tolerate. Do keep in mind, though, that my campus food is consistently ranked top in the country. You won't want to stray too far. What are you going to do when that Moonlight Breakfast craving hits? I also am quite the chef in gourmet cuisine. Ibby's is definitely a favorite place to dine because it accepts student meal points. Tuition costs cover their filet mignon and bruschetta? Of course. I only serve the best to my hungry cubs!

Relationship Status

I pretty much get along with everyone, but if I were to choose an enemy…Emory should go down in flames. As I stand above them. Atop my mighty bear, howling heartily at the moo—erm, I mean…we have a friendly rivalry, is all.

University of Chicago may also kindly eat my dust, if he would like.

Religion

I'm not committed to any particular faith, but faithful people can find a home in one of my many religious centers, including the Catholic Student Center and the Rohr Center for Jewish Life. I heard Chabad's free Shabbat dinner every Friday night is five courses long not including homemade challah bread...

Politics

Hanging out in the middle of the country means I host quite the goulash of political views. Missouri may be a purple state, but I wouldn't say it's neutral.

You should apply to me if...

you're more than just a pretty brain. I like my students to also be passionate, kind, and well-rounded.
