About Me

Intro

Honey, I'm the biggest do-gooder you'll ever meet. I'm into the Peace Corps, Americorps and working on my core (curriculum, that is). I'm all about doing right by you, but I also want to see some world change up in here. You better be ready for some next-level, Portlandia-style sustainability efforts if you're going to step out with me.

It's cool if you want to take the environmentalism down a notch…as long as you still recycle. That's deal-breaker material. Let's just say I'm pretty cozy with the Oregon State Capitol and all that legislative jazz (which is just across the street, might I add). So if you want to play politics, I've got all the connections you need.

If you're not impressed yet, keep in mind that I'm well traveled, too. Worldly, you might say. I've got a cute sister campus in Tokyo and a kickin' study abroad program, in case you're interested. But if you want to just stick around and soak up all the goodness I have to offer, I won't blame you. I'll still make sure you have the time of your life.

Name

I'm a Bearcat. It's a real thing. Don't worry about it.

Hometown

Salem, Oregon. I'm just far enough from Portland to rely on my own good looks and charm, but you can go ahead and visit that ol' city if you want to. It's just a day trip away.

Birthdate

1842. I like to have some (construction) work done every few years so that I don't look a day over one hundred.

Body Type

I like to stay svelte with just around 2,725 students. But if you're serious about counting calor—er, students, only 2,027 of those are undergraduates. I consider the Law School and my graduate schools like a delectable 698-calorie double-fudge brownie. Totally worth it, am I right?

Current Living Situation

I'm all about the on-campus dorms, baby. Lausanne Hall is the classiest, but she's the quiet type. Matthews is where the party's at. And Kaneko is so far away from the main campus that you might get some use out of all that hiking gear you brought.

Greek life's got some cool digs too, but you have to have sophomore standing to ride that ride. No matter what else you're into, I'd say that fraternities and sororities are worth it for the personal chefs. Yummy.

Relationship Status

It's complicated with Linfield. Woo-wee, our sports rivalry is hot. Sure, I've clinched some key games over the years, but those Wildcats churn out good athletes every year, too. Oh, and some East Coasters think we're salivating over Reed…but we barely know those hippies exist.

Religion

Yeah, I was originally a Methodist mission...but that's in the past, so don't put me down as a one-religion kind of school. I'm down with whatever you want to believe in.

Politics

Most people think I put the "liberal" in liberal arts college, but to be honest, I've got a tiny conservative streak going on. I'll leave the really "out there" stuff to Reed and Lewis & Clark.

You should apply to me if...

you're cool with being waterlogged most of the time and you can wax eloquent about recycling with the best of them.
