Fame
Mikhail Baryshnikov (king of ballet), Martha Graham (queen of modern), Michael Jackson (king of pop)—there's no denying that there are some folks out there who are wildly famous for their dance moves. Some dancers become so famous that their style influences the dance world for years and years to come. Younger dancers might even be out there emulating the greats without even knowing it.
We probably don't have to tell you that it takes a lot to reach this kind of fame. There are thousands of successful professional dancers who've enjoyed totally solid careers and aren't widely known. They might get props within the dance world, which is a huge thing in and of itself, but they're never going to be a household name. And, of course, there are those dancers who do their best, but never even get recognized by other dance types. Oh, well, we hope they at least enjoyed the ride.
