Let's say you actually make it through the years of soul crippling rejection that will stand in the way of you being a working fashion photographer. Then...yeah...there's a good amount of self-satisfaction to be had.
Many fashion photographers don't get to pursue their every artistic whim with every shoot. But still, making a steady living in the field you love is no small thing, especially when your field is in something as cutthroat as the arts.
For the very few that make it to the upper echelons of the fashion photography world, there are mountains of glory to be had. These folks win awards and gain international recognition just for pursuing their particular artistic visions. Art galleries, major magazines, and brands want artists with their own weird visions of the world, and seeing your own particular brand of crazy in a magazine or on a gallery wall is about as rewarding it gets.
