Fame

As a roadie, you're constantly in the shadows of fame. You'll be hobnobbing with the big boys and girls, but you're meant to be out of sight and out of mind. In fact, that's why roadies wear a lot of black—other than how fashionable it is. They're meant to blend in with the background and not be noticed while they're rigging up a mic or fixing an amp setting or replacing a guitar string.

Of course, there are plenty of fans and groupies who'll consider you unbelievably cool for your mere proximity to their music idols. If you play your cards right, you could get plenty of attention and the perks of fame without actually ever stepping into the spotlight.

In other words, you won't become famous, but you might confront groups of screaming, adoring fans who make you feel like you're the center of attention—even though you're just standing next to the person who actually is.
