Job Satisfaction

33%

General quality of life statement

Once you break into the industry, you'll be making about the same as anybody in the communications/journalism business. The salaries are all comparable, but what differs the most is job satisfaction. 33% is pretty low on the spectrum. If you were happy with 33% of things in your life, you'd probably sit in your room and write sad poetry Monday through Friday morning, and have dance parties the rest of the week. This is an important part to consider, because, you know, it's your life. All Chuck Palahniuk fans, take heed.

On the other hand, you probably won't have to spend more time in grad school, which is always nice. You can make the average salary based on just your undergraduate degree, unlike those sorry folks who get grad degrees and still only make it to the median percentile. If you can find a niche in the professional world that makes you happy, then go for it. However, if making millions and living in the lap of luxury is your goal, the ad world might not be for you.
