General quality of life statement

If you like laboratories, you're going to be one happy camper. If you don't like laboratories...well, you'll be the opposite.

Two sad couch potatoes?

Yes. That.

There are ways around spending your life in a lab with this particular degree, but the majority of jobs available will involve one in some way or another.

Biochemistry has a huge potential to help people, from making the workplace safer, to diagnosing and fighting diseases, or finally making that pill that makes kale taste like cinnamon ice cream. This field has plenty of good feels available for those with a humanitarian spark.

The money is better than average, but not through the roof. So if money is your thing, plan on spending a few extra years learning. It'll pay off big time in the long run. The biggest downside is that at least half of the people with this degree are unsatisfied with their jobs, so definitely do a lot of thinking before you gallivant your way into a lab.

Jobs in this field should be projects of passion. Stick to your interests, whether they be protecting people from toxic pop music, or batman-ing someone with your super powerful brain.
