Looking at the numbers won't help you too much here. The job satisfaction is lower than many other occupations, but keep in mind that there's a wide range of jobs in this field. Comparing the manager of a Super 8 to the planner for Warped Tour is a little unfair.

Also, the average salary of hospitality management majors is right smack dab in the middle. You'll be making what most other majors make, so there's not much to brag about there. The most important part of hospitality management careers is mobility. If you think Gordon Ramsay started out at the top, then you're not paying attention. You don't get that kind of rage without having a few hard knocks first. The key is starting from the bottom and working your way into upper management. If you've ever seen "The Grand Budapest Hotel", it's sort of like that.

Well, minus the foul play and murder charges and whatnot.

It suffices to say that the less of a grunt you are, the happier you'll be, as is the case with most professions. Expect to be at "I'm just doing it for now" before you get to "Holy smokes, I love my job." It won't be easy and it might not be fun, but it'll be worth it if you play your cards right.
