General quality of life statement

So what's life going to be like? Well, the truth is, it's really up to you. Like with most ethnic studies majors, the LALS major often serves well as a supplemental degree to majors like education, political science, or social work. However, two-thirds of people in this field pursue higher education after their BA.

Although it doesn't exactly move mountains on its own, a LALS degree will give you a more worldly view as a journalist, social worker, healthcare service worker, educator, politician, and just about anything else you might consider doing. Anything that involves interacting with communities of people will benefit from your LALS expertise.

Like we said, it's a whole big small world.

And it's worth considering that this big small world isn't so kind to certain minority groups. For example, immigrant rights is a pretty controversial topic right now, and people everywhere like to think they're experts.

You, on the other hand, actually would be. Bam.

As we all know, social workers and educators are notoriously overworked and underpaid, while lawyers and healthcare workers tend to be pretty well-off. Job satisfaction in this field will vary depending on the path you go down. So choose a good match for yourself.

That doctor money is nice, but if you've always dreamed of being a professor that studies indigenous rights and men who fight windmills, it probably won't make you too happy.
