Job Satisfaction

General quality of life statement

We should say this right up front. Don't get into meteorology just because it will apparently make you rich and happy. We are of the humble opinion that you should do what you want to do, but do it with eyes open. You should know if your choice of majoring in Underwater Basket Weaving doesn't have the most options.

We felt the need to remind you because seriously, this is a great major. 80% job satisfaction means that four out of five people like their job, and the one that doesn't is that dentist who won't stop recommending rot-your-teeth gum. Meteorologists appear to be a cheerful bunch, which is a little funny considering they spend so much time in the rain.

Not only that, but they make good money. Sure, some of the stats are weighted by the proportionally higher salaries made by the folks on television, but still. There are tons of options for how to make money with this. Like we said, the weather is important. It's basically the planet's hat.

Throw in the fact that you can save lives, and you have a trifecta. Even if you're taking the fluffiest of jobs in television, you're still warning people about disasters coming their way. You're not throwing yourself in the path of any tornadoes, but the best prevention is just knowing it's out there. That's where you come in.
