Just Moved to Colorado?

Just Moved to Colorado?

Q: So, you just moved to Colorado from California. You had a license there. Can you drive?

(Expect a lot of trivia questions like this on your test.)

A: Well, yes, at first. You have 30 days to qualify for a license if you're a new Colorado resident.

How do they define "resident," though? Well, if you

  • own or operate a business in Colorado (doesn't really affect minors),
  • moved here for a full-time job (also likely doesn't affect minors),
  • pay homeowners taxes (also, doesn't really affect minors),
  • enroll your children in a public school (you're really striking out here, kid),
  • have lived in Colorado for 90 consecutive days

...then you're a resident.
