Batch Credit Card Processing

A very common practice, batch credit card processing involves a merchant waiting until after the close of business (or some other specified time) to process all the authorized card transactions it received for the day (or other specified time).

After close of business, the merchant will send off all of the authorization codes for each transaction to its respective payment processor, who will in turn divide the transactions up into different categories (specifically, the banks which issued the cards used for the transactions). The banks will then remit each payment to the merchant.
