Merchandising is about marketing or selling...and in this case, the "mass" thrown in there is about selling to the masses. Not things like a $4,000 SkilSaw or a giant snowblower. Those products have narrow, defined sets of buyers. Mass merchandising is all about things like four million cases of Coca Cola sold per day around the world. The skills of a mass merch are broad and global and "think big."
