If you haven’t read Liar’s Poker, well, you should. It’s the contemporary story and then prelude to the end of Salomon Brothers, a storied old Wall Street firm that was as close to blue collar Wall Streeting as you can get. Famous for trading prowess, they made bank for ages, before they were sold under Warrn Buffett’s urgings, and kind of evaporated into space.

A good lesson for investment banks: their assets ride up and down elevators every day. If they’re not…nice, the company literally walks away.
