Duke. Early. Mister. Owner. That's really all title is: a signifier that you own something "legally," i.e., its ownership is recognized by the powerful governing bodies of the land.

So yeah, if you anger the King, dilly dilly, he can just as easily remove your title as Duke or Lord or Fool or whatever grabs you.
