U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - HUD

Move over, Prez. You’re not the only one in the executive branch.
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a cabinet department in the executive branch, dedicated to all things government + housing.
HUD is the indirect overlord of the Federal Housing Administration, which provides mortgages (called FHA loans) to lower-income folks who want to buy a house. It’s also in the biz of constructing low-income housing, eradicating slums, promoting community development, helping out the elderly with housing, combatting house-buying-related discrimination via the Fair Housing Act, and so on. In more recent years, with climate change becoming hard to ignore, HUD has been involved in disaster recovery, like Katrina.
HUD: saving America one housing issue at a time.
