Yankee Market

If you don’t know the New York Yankees and you’re American, get out of town.

No, really...go to New York and edumicate yourself.

Yankee market is just a slang term for the U.S. stock market, usually used by non-Americans. That’s a nice way of saying it’s when the rest of the world is talking about the U.S. behind their backs.

Does that mean it’s...mean? Well, it can be, but not necessarily. It can be a fun, teasy-kind of thing.

We’re not the only ones. The U.K. stock market is sometimes called the bulldog market, and the Japanese stock market is sometimes called the samurai market. It’s all fun and games. Like cosplay, but with international finances, and less time in the makeup chair.
