Speaker: The Bee Gees

"Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk..."

Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk I'm a woman's man, no time to talk.

Context

This line is from the song "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, from the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977).

America first got infected with this song when the trailer for Saturday Night Fever hit the screens. Audiences saw a bellbottom-wearing John Travolta strutting down a NYC street to this catchy first line, and everybody was like, "This is the best thing I've ever seen." "Stayin Alive," "How Deep is Your Love," and "Night Fever" were all hits off of the soundtrack for the Bee Gees. They actually ended up tying with the Beatles for most number one hits in a row.

Check them out here. Who says a guy wearing tight pants and singing in falsetto can't be a woman's man?

Where you've heard it

You probably heard this line at some wedding or another, after which you subsequently witnessed its uncanny ability to make old people try to dance like a young John Travolta.

The song has also been used in Shrek, Sherlock, That 70's Show, and Mars Attacks!

You'll also find it on an episode of The Office, which spoofs the fact that the song is used in CPR training. It is a certified fact that the song's beat lines up with the correct number of compressions per minute, which gives a whole new meaning to "Stayin' Alive."

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.

Come on. Any guy who declares himself a woman's man and says he doesn't have time to talk is at least a little bit pretentious.
