Friskies aren't just for cats. The dog often gets a little frisky with females in each of his lives as a male. He considers it a game, like when he is "wrestling" with Coco in the Yard in his first life or with Marshmallow in his second. Soon after the wrestling begins, the dog is taken away to the vet, where he wakes up later with a cone-shaped collar around his neck and no more desire to wrestle.
Other than this doggy-style action in the Yard, the book stays firmly in PG territory. Ethan and Hannah often go on rides in Ethan's truck together late at night, without Bailey, and when they are together as adults, they kick him out of the bedroom. But Bailey never thinks that they might be "wrestling," too.
