A Lesson Before Dying Chapter 26 Summary

  • Grant finds out that Claiborne was the one who knocked him out, with the butt of his gun, because he wouldn't stop fighting.
  • Vivian is mad because he didn't walk away from the fight, but she's brought Grant to her house to revive him.
  • She's especially mad because everyone will have heard about the big scene, and her husband might use that information against her in their divorce.
  • Vivian serves food, but she is disgusted with her man. They get into an argument, because her husband has asked to see their kids every weekend, which will keep them from ever getting to leave. She thinks he should be more considerate, and he gets mad and decides to walk out.
  • When he gets to the door, though, he realizes he doesn't have anywhere he'd like to go and stays.
