The theme of "Time" is a pretty big deal in The Bald Soprano. Throughout the play, there are hints that time is all kinds of messed up. We're never quite sure what exactly is going on with it. Is it jumbled? Does it just not exist? The most likely possibility seems to be that it's in some way cyclical. By the end of the play, we get the impression that the characters are doomed to repeat the play over and over again. You see this sort of thing a lot in other Absurdist plays as well. Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot is probably the most famous example. Absurdist plays often express the idea that time isn't a linear progression towards anything. Instead, it may just be an endless loop, spiraling towards nothing at all.
