Chomp Chapter 3 Summary

  • Derek Badger's name is actually Lee Bluepenny and he was not trained to be a survivalist, only an actor. Hmmmm, so how is he a "reality" TV star?
  • During the first episode of Expedition Survival! Derek tried to eat a striped shrew rat for dinner, but it was not dead and it bit his lips. (And to think some stars pay to have that puffy, pouty look… )
  • Raven calls Derek in Paris and worries about him getting fat from over-eating. The man loves cheese. So do we. Just saying…
  • The two talk about the alligators and python Raven found for him.
  • Derek says he wants to wrestle Alice the alligator, but Raven says no.
  • Although she sounds nice, Raven actually thinks about what a big ego Derek has and that she'd like to knock him back down to size.
  • Wahoo's sister Julie is in law school, so he sends her the contract to read through.
  • Calling about a problem in the contract, Julie says the wording means Derek can do anything he wants with the animals without Mickey's permission. Uh oh.
  • Mickey already spent the eight hundred dollar deposit on the home mortgage bill, so there isn't much he can do about the job now. Legally, he has to follow the rules of the contract.
  • In his backyard, Mickey admires the pattern on Beulah the Burmese python and let's his mind wander into a brief daydream.
  • As a boy, Mickey would catch all sorts of snakes and keep them as pets, so it's only fitting that when the government asked him to catch all the pythons (which are non-native species) overtaking the Everglades, he said no.
  • Snapping him out of his daydream, Beulah begins chomping down on Mickey's foot and wraps her tail around his body, squeezing it.
  • Mickey asks Wahoo when she was last fed and instructs him to get the bourbon (a strong liquor) to give her.
  • The bothersome tingle from the alcohol works and she lets go of Mickey.
  • His foot is full of bite wounds, so Wahoo mends it, and is sorry for not feeding her.
