The woman with the goats is a bit strange, but she's kind and generous. She aids Inman's healing with herbal salves, medicine, and kindness.
She's been living on her own for a long time, but she still knows how to extend a generous welcome. She feeds Inman and listens to his story. He can trust her in a way he can't trust most other people he's met, so he tells it to her. The woman's generosity brings about some of his healing, both physical and spiritual.
