Character Analysis
Dedicated pretty much entirely to chasing after poor Florimell, the unnamed Foster represents the danger of unchecked lust and lawlessness. Associated with the wildness of the forest, he embodies the worst kind of behavior when individuals are taken out of civilization and allowed to live by their own laws. But for all his wildness, he still needs the help of his two brothers to defeat Arthur's squire, Timias, which suggests that wildness does not equal real strength.
