Everyone wishes they were clever, and to be fair, some people are. Like that clever Fox with his clever socks. But maybe cleverness can have its drawbacks too. Fox is awfully smart with his tongue twisters. Early in Fox in Socks, Knox enjoys their time together playing Fox's word games. But as things progress, Fox must think they've entered the cleverness one-upmanship tournament. He increases the difficultly of the tongue twisters big time to show off his prowess. Knox enjoys himself less and less as this happens. But this being children's literature, you can bet them tables will turn on Fox. And turn they do.
