- Jason's mom wakes him up at eleven, upset that he's sleeping the whole day away. He and Henry had watched the sun rise from the top of the Ten-legged One. He tells his mom he hasn't slept fourteen hours, that he was up most of the night having a "religious experience" (11.11), but she still worries.
- Jason strategically volunteers to mow the lawn before his mom has a chance to assign a ton of chores.
- The lawn mower is out of gas so he has to walk with a gas can about a mile to the gas station. When he gets there and fills the can, it's way heavy, and he doesn't want to lug it home, so he goes to Shin's to borrow his wagon.
