Kansas-Nebraska Act: Kansas Executive and Legislative Power (Sections 20-26) Summary

Just Copy Nebraska's Answers and Put "Kansas" On Them

  • Sections 20-26 are literally identical to sections 2-8; the only difference is that 2-8 say "Nebraska" where 20-26 say "Kansas." That being said, here's a super-brief recap:
  • The Governor of Kansas Territory is subject to the exact same rules and regulations as the Governor of Nebraska Territory.
  • The Secretary of Kansas Territory is responsible for just as much bureaucratic paperwork (multiple copies, please) as the Secretary of Nebraska Territory, and will fulfill all of the other (identical) duties as well.
  • The Legislative Assembly of Kansas Territory will be set up exactly like that of Nebraska Territory, and is subject to the same rules and requirements.
  • The right to vote is completely different in Kansas Territory than it is in Nebraska Territory. Just kidding! Those rules are identical as well: free, white, land-owning, non-military males 21 and over only, please.
  • Rules on creating and appointing oneself to cushy government jobs are the same too.
