Idunn (Idun)'s Clique: Future Farmers of America—Fruit Chapter
Like Sif, another prominent member of the FFA, Idunn is majorly involved in food production. But instead of boring crops like wheat or corn, Idunn procures magical apples of immortality, which keep the gods and goddesses of Asgard forever young. The fruits of many other members of this clique also have magical powers. Yeah, we wouldn't mind getting in with this crowd.
Hera (Juno)
Hera's apple trees were a gift from the goddess Gaia. How kind! They were so precious to her that she appointed a whole troop of ladies called the Hesperides to tend them, and a dragon to guard them. The apples were golden, tasted divine, had healing powers, were self-regenerating, and (like Thor's magical hammer) always returned to their thrower. You might be wondering, and yes, they were majorly sought after: Hercules went to great trouble to steal some; and Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite fought over one, labeled "for the fairest," starting the Trojan War. So an apple caused the war! Take that, Helen.
Dionysus (Bacchus)
Dionysus loved him a good time, so it's a good thing he discovered a method of extracting the juice from grapes to make wine. After he discovered the secret of the vine, Dionysus traveled all over the world sharing it—adult parties have never been the same since.
Xi Wang Mu
This Chinese goddess' palace on Mount Kunlun was the happening place to be for all the cool kids, a communication point between human and divine. And in her garden, she grew peaches—or cherries, depending on who you ask. But whatever they were, they ripened every three thousand years. Sounds pretty rare, but if you happened to be a guest at one of Xi Wang Mu's parties when they were ripe, you'd get to eat them and—boom!—you'd become immortal.
