Guide Mentor

Guide Mentor

Character Role Analysis

Bea

There's kind of a vacuum of guidance in the high school where the novel takes place. But wait… There are lots of teachers, right? Yeah, well, teachers don't always get close enough to their students to serve as real mentors. And it's hard for them to do this, too, because none of the narrators are honest enough with their teachers to seek guidance. So Bea, Leticia's best friend, is the only real mentor figure here. Bea is the only one who tells Leticia to do something, to get involved. Too bad Leticia ignores the best advice she receives.
