Son of Shelomith

Figure Analysis

The son of Shelomith is the star of the second (and last) narrative in Leviticus, found in chapter 24. He's the son of an Egyptian man and an Israelite woman. He blasphemes God and the Israelites stone him to death. The end.

The fact that the son of Shelomith never receives a name is significant. He disrespects the holy name of God—which unites Israel—and God has no intention of allowing La Resistance to live on. Instead, the blasphemer himself goes nameless and the people join together to maintain the sanctity of the name of God.

Consider yourself Leviticused, son of Shelomith.
