Mr. Green symbolizes the colonial mentality, which recognizes that some Africans may be intelligent but believes that African culture is inherently inferior to European culture. Furthermore, Mr. Green believes that no African can ever escape the "curse" of his culture, and will eventually succumb to the temptations of corruption and laziness.
