The Once and Future King Book 4, Chapter 13 Summary

  • A bitter wind is blowing all around Benwick Castle. And Arthur and his men have suddenly ended the siege and are gone.
  • Suddenly, Lancelot comes barreling out of the castle, demanding that Sir Bors, Sir Bleoboris, and Sir Demaris prepare to leave for England immediately.
  • He's received a letter with the news about Mordred taking over the joint.
  • There was a horrible battle when Arthur and his men landed at Dover.
  • Turns out, the letter was sent by Gawain, who is now dead.
  • In the letter, he begs Lancelot to remember the love that once existed between them, and to come immediately and help Arthur to defeat Mordred.
  • Lancelot and his men pack up and leave.
