Pinocchio Scene 2 Summary

  • We cut to Jiminy admiring his new duds in the reflection of a jar. He doesn't seem to be paying much attention to his new ward.
  • When he's done, he pulls Pinocchio aside for a heart-to-heart. He starts by saying that the world is full of temptations, but loses his train of thought before reaching a cogent point.
  • He also tells to Pinocchio to whistle whenever he needs him and he'll come a'running. Or a'hopping, we guess.
  • We then jump into a groovy little tune that's about whistling whenever you encounter a moral quandary. Works for us.
  • While performing this song-and-dance, Pinocchio trips over some cans and wakes Geppetto, who's understandably confused.
  • Geppetto lights a candle, grabs a pistol, and goes in search of the intruder. He's really nervous.
  • Suddenly, Pinocchio announces himself, startling Geppetto. He accidentally shoots into the roof.
  • Finally, he sees Pinocchio and puts him back on the table, though he still doesn't know what's up. He starts freaking out once he realizes that his puppet in moving and talking, though.
  • Pinocchio explains the whole Blue Fairy deal, which seems like enough for Geppetto. Dude is beyond overjoyed.
  • He's so overjoyed, in fact, that he pops on a few music boxes and starts dancing with his puppet/boy. Jiminy finds a pretty lady on a music box to mack on.
  • While Geppetto goes off to find more toys, Pinocchio starts touching the flame of a candle, catching his finger on fire. Geppetto goes into a panic and puts it out.
  • This seems like enough for him, and he calls it a day.
  • Jiminy steps into a matchbox and goes to sleep, while Geppetto, Pinocchio, and Figaro sleep in bed.
  • Geppetto tells Pinocchio that he's going to school tomorrow. Seems kind of fast, huh?
