Character Analysis
Tommy and Paul are Wilhelm and Margaret's sons. At fourteen years old, Tommy is the eldest, and Paul is nine. The boys aren't active characters in the novel, and most of what we know about them comes through Wilhelm's memories and one telephone conversation. Wilhelm mostly just takes the boys out to the ball game when he visits, and worries that Margaret is turning them against him. Or maybe he's just a cruddy dad.
