Ever since Judi Dench took over the role of M in GoldenEye, she's been delivering cold hard truths to Bond. A good mentor is firm with her pupil, although M might have a tendency to cross the line. Bond can take it, but Silva couldn't. M broke him, and Silva wants to break her in return.
