This creates some very exciting tension and suspense for us as readers—as we read, the questions begin to mount: Where is he? If he's in hell, does that mean he's dead? Who is this other guy?—which makes for a seriously edge-of-the-seat read that requires 100% attention and fair amount of detective work, too.
