  1. The Story of an Hour
    Writers often repeat themes throughout their works and Chopin was no different. In fact, you can even say she was obsessed with the notion and character of a woman trying to buck marriage. Take a look at her short story "The Story of an Hour" for a super-condensed version of The Awakening. Since this story is so short, it's easy to read in class and discuss.

    This is another short story by Chopin about a woman who isn't faithful to her husband. This one was too controversial for Chopin to publish during her lifetime.
