The Wings of the Dove Volume 2, Book 7, Chapter 3 Summary

  • Susan has paid for the services of a servant named Eugenio for the trip to Venice. Eugenio has come from Paris and basically sounds like an all-star servant. He speaks tons of different languages and is more cultured than most dukes. It's clear that Susan is sparing no expense on making Milly happy during this final trip.
  • During her time in Venice, Milly sees all kinds of amazing sights that she would never see back in the States. She also sometimes throws snit-fits of frustration and anger and just wants to be alone. Which makes sense if she's dying, because it sounds like dying just sucks.
  • One day, Milly finds out that Lord Mark is waiting for her in her rented palace (yeah, that's right—a rented palace). Marky-Mark has travelled to Venice from London just to see her.
  • Milly offers to walk him around her rented palace and he gladly accepts. She's a little creeped out that he came all this way to spend time with her.
