The Westing Game is your students' best intro to the "Who Dunnit" genre. In fact, it kind of sets the bar high with all its clues, action, and suspicious people. Reading The Westing Game, with its many characters, twists and turns, bombings, haunted houses, and puzzles takes persistence, patience—and sometimes causes a bit of frustration.

But setting the bar high is a good thing. Managing all the information prepares students for the next level of mysteries, whether they go on to Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes novels, both of which are written toward higher level readers.
