How It All Goes Down
The premise of What Pet Should I Get? is a simple one: A boy and a girl go to a pet store in order to pick out their new pet. Their father's sent them with the promise that he'll pay for whatever they choose… but they have to pick just one animal. Of course, that's where all of the drama comes in; there are too many wondrous, cute, and fluffy animals for the kids to pick just one. Their anxiety ramps up as they try to decide, especially because they have to be home by noon. In the end, the narrator takes control and chooses a pet—one that isn't revealed to the reader (how frustrating!).
