- Finally they stop off at the school, where the headmaster Mr. Dempster is mad at little boy named Jacob for scaring everyone with ghost stories.
- Marian asks Jacob what's up and he tells a bizarre story about seeing a lady in white hanging around Mrs. Fairlie's grave.
- Marian is upset, but Walter decides this must be Anne Catherick.
- Marian and Walter go to visit her mom's grave but get no further clues, so they head home.
- But Walter heads out again that night to the graveyard and starts a one-man stakeout.
