On this day in 1969, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, and proclaimed, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Except that's not what Armstrong claimed he said. The astronaut insisted that he declared it, "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." Okay, so he forgot an indefinite article. No big deal, right? Actually, it changes the meaning of the sentence. Armstrong's intended line connects the small action of one man to its tremendous significance for all of humanity. What he actually said doesn't make a lot of sense since man and mankind basically mean the same thing. We don't know about you, , but we're willing to overlook the error. Dude was walking on the moon.
