Education Credit

Categories: Education, Tax

Sometimes, Uncle Sam decides to give you a break when you're doing something good, like going to school.

An education credit is a tax credit that students of higher education (think: college) can claim if they're paying for stuff like tuition and books.

You can only claim an education credit from accredited institutions, and if you're not a dependent on someone else's tax return. Parents paying for their kids' education can claim an education credit in same cases.
