Gamification

You're playing Sea of Thieves and you need to figure out how to launch yourself into 10 or 15 hidden thrones. As you strategize and work with others you figure out the solution and get the achievement.

Now you're working on a big fund-raising project and have hit a wall. You think back to the in-game theories and elements you used to achieve the throne goal, and figure out you can use some of those ideas to boost donations...such as offering rewards or achievements.

Companies use gaming theories and elements to their advantage to increase statistics to make themselves look better. Gamification can be used to make online resources fun and interactive, so that they engage users and encourage them to spend more time on your site, or increase the likelihood they buy/use your product.

Gamification: The art of making something boring...fun.
