Source: Dumbo

Speaker: Timothy Mouse

Don't just fly, soar.

Context

This line is from the film Dumbo, directed by Ben Sharpsteen (1941).

Before Dumbo was an amusement park ride with never-ending lines, it was a sweet Disney animated film about a little elephant with big ears, who was bullied for looks and basically orphaned. Luckily, Timothy Q. Mouse is there to believe in him and his flying abilities.

And with the help of some unfortunately named crows and a "magical" feather, which is many children's introduction to the concept of the placebo effect, Dumbo does end up flying and doing amazing stunts for the circus performers that once taunted him. He becomes a big shot on the traveling circus circuit and really lives up to this quote.

Honestly, Dumbo is quite a motivational fellow.

Where you've heard it
